Betrayal Trauma Online Course

October 1, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

$195

This is a psycho-educational course designed for individuals who are seeking recovery and support due to the pain of experiencing a betrayal trauma. Betrayal traumas include but are not limited to the discovery of an affair, a secret life, and financial secrets and betrayals. If you are feeling alone and finding the wound of betrayal is not like other pain, then this 6 week course is appropriate for you. In this course we will address:

  1. Betrayal trauma and recovery is a unique wound. Trauma is a disruption and wound to the brain, body and interpersonal functioning of a person and relationship. What makes betrayal trauma even more devastating is that the wounds come at the hand of someone who was supposed to love and protect you. This makes healing even more complex.
  2. Establishing a sense of safety is key. In order for your brain, body and relational functioning to heal, the first step is getting you safe. This safety is with others but also an internal sense of calm and security. Once you begin to feel safe and supported, you can begin to explore the depths of the wound and heal it properly.
  3. Your ability to trust and grow is possible even after a betrayal. It is not uncommon for someone in your shoes to have developed a sour taste in their mouths for trusting an intimate partner. Many people feel a sense of shame for having chosen to be in a relationship with the person who betrayed them. They may also feel further shame if they want to repair and remain in the relationship. However, shame is part of the healing process in betrayal trauma recovery that needs to be a temporary experience, not a prolonged state. Hurting is an opportunity to explore difficult questions and grow into an even more intense state of awareness and vulnerability, within oneself and in relationships.
