[RecoveryTV LIVE] Facing the Holidays in Recovery | Guest: Whitney Warren-Alexander
November 16, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 12:45 pmFree
The holiday season is upon us! This is a time of year that most of us associate with joy and excitement! We look forward to the tasty food, fun fellowship with friends and families, and all the wonderful fall and winter decorations. However, the holiday season isn’t positively anticipated for all. Many people suffer a great deal during this season. One particular group that often struggles are those in recovery. Some people are recovering from Drugs and Alcohol, and this is a time of the year where we attend many types of parties where alcohol is often heavily involved. Others may be in recovery for sex addiction and betrayal trauma. The holiday season is a time where we are expected to smile and laugh and celebrate our blessings as we walk arm in arm with our significant other. And then, there are those who struggle from day-to-day with anxiety and depression. The holiday season is often very difficult for them. So, you can see how this time of year may be difficult for those in recovery.
We are excited to have our guest expert, Whitney Warren-Alexander, on the show to give insight on how to do the holiday season and still be true to your recovery. In this episode, we will discuss, boundaries, self-care, how to handle your emotions, and how to actively and intentionally prepare for the challenge of recovery during the holidays. If you are a loved one of someone in recovery, we will also discuss how you can be supportive of the one in recovery but also enjoy the perks of the holidays.
