From Script to Session: Understanding Medications in the Therapy Room

3 Hour Ethics and Supervision CE for LMFT and LPCIf you’ve ever nodded along while a client listed their medications, secretly unsure what half of them were treating, or how they might be affecting your work together, you’re in good company. Therapists are often handed a list of prescriptions without the context, clarity, or collaboration we need to fully support the people we serve.
This 3-hour CEU training (approved for Ethics & Supervision credit) is designed to close that information gap. We’ll break down the most commonly prescribed psychotropic medications in plain language, explore how they influence mood, behavior, and the therapeutic process, and discuss how to recognize when a “therapy issue” may actually be a side effect. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of what questions to ask, how to talk about meds without stepping outside your scope, and how to partner more confidently with prescribers so clients receive care that actually works together—not against itself.
The workshop is led by Vaden Danielson, PA, who brings extensive neuropsych experience and a passion for building strong therapist–provider relationships, and Kensley Merry, LPC-S, who offers a clinician’s perspective on integrating medication awareness into the therapy room. Expect practical conversation, real case examples, and space to get honest answers to the medication questions you’ve been holding onto.
Open to LPCs and LMFTs working with any population, whether you’re brand new to medication conversations or just ready to feel more grounded when they show up in session.
