“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” - Maya Angelou
While life is characterized by growth in a structured and functional manner, we can sometimes come across challenges that can be unexpected, overwhelming, and tiresome. At times, these concerns stem from our childhood and extend into our adult lives and we do our best to overlook, suppress, or even ignore. We often become entangled in the tapestry of life and joy can feel like a contradiction to how we experience the world.
In short, life is hard.
In difficult times we should become more curious and ask ourselves questions that will help us identify the root cause of our worry, distress, or uneasiness. We should find time to reflect and process our thoughts and feelings to regain a hold of our essence. We are born to be bold, beautiful, and significant while honoring the values of love, family, friendship, exploration of self, and creativity.
When life becomes heavy, we should create an internal revolution to transform struggle into concrete healing.
My approach to therapy is to partner with each of my clients, create a collaborative effort to assist with identifying and discovering relief from symptoms, maintain or improve daily functioning, and enhance quality of life. This is accomplished through honest dialogue and developed therapeutic strategies in an environment that is safe and facilitates positive changes. Through therapeutic connection and congruence, the client and I create a space for solutions. Healing is a gradual process that is often not linear but rather a tangle of lines leading to a pathway of progress over perfection.
I’m committed to my clients and the progress and comfort that emerges through their healing.
